Reaching the Last Mile Fund
New work: Reaching the Last Mile aims to eliminate Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) worldwide. These diseases affect 1-in-6 people worldwide, and include Polio, River Blindness and Lymphatic Filariasis. They are preventable and usually occur in disadvantaged countries—further trapping families in a cycle of poverty. Reaching the Last Mile is a commitment envisioned by Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and is partnered with Melinda and Bill Gates and The End Fund. I was happy to help bring awareness through these profiles on two families in rural Ethiopia who have been affected by Lymphatic Filariasis, or LF, a terribly painful disease that can cause Elephantiasis. The films were produced by Danielle Perissi in association with RadicalMedia.
